Roger Cook Hosts ABC Party

June 2007 -- Landscape contractor and co-host of TV's This Old House, Roger Cook introduced COGdesign's Augusta Bailey Circle members to one of his special places.

For several years, Roger, with the horticultural expertise of Monique Allen, owner of The Garden Continuum, has been developing, tweaking, and enjoying this beautiful residential landscape in Concord. What was once a lawn to the doorway is now a stone terrace, bubbling water feature, and soothing koi pond. Further from the house are the bocce court, managed meadow, and startlingly beautiful specimen trees.

Sharing in this glorious morning were COGdesign contributors who support the organization at the Augusta Bailey Circle level. The annual private garden party is a special thank you to these donors for their financial commitment to COGdesign. Previous ABC garden party hosts have included landscape designers Julie Moir Messervy and Gary Koller, and author Phebe Goodman.

Donors become members of the Augusta Bailey Circle with an annual contribution of $250 or more. The giving circle is named for Mrs. Bailey, founder of the Roxbury Beautification Movement in the 1960s and landscape design student at the Radcliffe Seminars. "Beauty Grows!" was her rallying cry and COGdesign honors her legacy as we serve the needs of underserved neighborhoods and community groups in the greater Boston and beyond area.
