Columbia Point Community Garden, Dorchester, MA –
Local residents and the University of Massachusetts/Boston
have joined forces to create a new community garden to
enrich the neighborhood, cross cultural, economic, and
ethnic lines, and produce food. Landscape designer Lelia
Stokes Weinstein provided a design for the garden and
suggestions for affordable and effective materials and
perennial plantings, and garden management. >> Project Sheet
Food Project – Lincoln/Roxbury works with inner
city youth to grow food on a large vacant lot in Roxbury.
Landscape designer Jan Childs, with a background in
teaching, conducted Saturday design workshops for the
teenagers and drafted a final plan for maximum utilization
of the site based on students’ input. >> Project Sheet
Shawmut Tunnel Cap, Dorchester – An active
neighborhood group, advocating for improvements to the
MBTA’s tunnel cap, consulted with landscape designer Ginny
Stewart to develop planting plans for existing planting beds
using plant selections based on medicinal plants and herbs.
Southwest Corridor Community Garden, Jamaica Plain
– Landscape designer Sunny Doherty developed the
central area of this large community garden to provide
gathering and activity space for the 40 gardeners. >>

Wright Memorial Community Garden, Roxbury –This
30-year old community garden was in need of renewal,
improved perimeter planting, and seating area for
non-gardening neighbors. Landscape designer Louise Forrest
developed a master plan for the gardeners.
